Uma Figura da Salvação

(João 5:1-15)

This story gives us a beautiful picture of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION - Vss. 1-5

A SIMPLE QUESTION - Vs. 6
Jesus wanted to know if the man wanted to be made whole. That simple question applies to any sinner. Because of our sin, we need cleansing (Isaiah 64:6). The cleansing has been made available because of the work of Christ on the cross. (1 Cor 15:3-4, 2 Cor 5:21)

A STANDARD EXCUSE - Vs. 7
This man said, "I have nobody to help me.", and yet his help was talking with him.
There will always be excuses for not being saved! People today have many of them.

A STRIKING DEMAND - Vs. 8
Jesus told the man "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk." To the sinner Jesus says "Believe!" Both of these demands require faith. Faith in Christ is the only demand that God makes for salvation.
see John 3:16, Acts 16:31, and Eph 2:8-9.

A STUPENDOUS RESULT - Vs. 9
Just as this man was healed, we are also healed (saved) when we place faith in Christ. A tremendous change takes place (2 Cor 5:17, 1 Cor 6:11)

A STRENUOUS EXAMINATION - Vss. 10-16
After a person is saved, unbelievers will inquire as to "what happened?"
