Everybody
has an opinion of what makes a sermon good or bad. When someone says "That
was a great message.", or that was a terrible message, he is usually giving
a subjective opinion.
God tells us in this verse what kind of preaching He likes. This is the type of
sermon a preacher should strive to preach. This is the type of sermon for which
God's people should be thankful when they hear it.
God likes the preaching when:
THE
WORD OF GOD IS PROCLAIMED
- "Preach the word."
THE MESSENGER IS PREPARED
- "Be instant in season, out of season."
THE AUDIENCE IS PROVOKED
- "Reprove, rebuke, exhort."
THE WORD IS PRESENTED
PATIENTLY AND CLEARLY - "With all longsuffering and doctrine."
